Peterborough District Masonic Project
This is an update on the progress of the district project "the closer campaign", project number 2467. As you are well aware by now the goal is to raise $10000 for the radiation bunker and equipment at the PRHC. To date the district has, to my immediate knowledge, achieved less than 25% of that goal. We are half way through our Masonic year and only five (5) of our eleven (11) district Lodges are represented with donations toward the project. To break it down even further, just sixteen (16) Masons in our district have made individual contributions to the project!
Needless to say we need to really encourage our members to donate. This is a worthy project, a community building project, a project that will impact people and Masons across Peterborough county. It could result in increased employment, bring more specialized medical expertise to our city and provide cancer treatment for our community right here in Peterborough. I am not sure of the exact number of Masons in the Peterborough district but it must be close to one thousand. If every Mason in our district took it upon himself to donate just $10 I am sure that we would achieve our goal. Together we can do this. The Masonic Foundation of Ontario will contribute an additional 10% of the total money collected up to $1000 toward our district project. That is just more incentive to reach our goal.
Reports have been made that the campaign has over achieved its goal of $2.5 million and that is certainly great news, but one has to understand that they base these reports on pledged money. The Masons have pledged $10 thousand this year and that has been calculated into the success of the campaign. To be direct, we still need to work towards our goal.
I would appreciate it if you would communicate this information to your Lodge members in open Lodge and in your summons. Also, all donations should be forwarded to myself so that I can record them prior to forwarding to the Masonic Foundation. If you have already sent donations directly to the MFO then please aprise me so that I can make record of them. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me directly and I will try to answer them. Please ensure that your members know that all donors names, and amounts will remain in confidence.

2012 Grand Lodge
The 157th Annual Grand Lodge will take place at the Fairmount Royal York Hotel in Toronto on Wednesday July 18 and Thursday July 19, 2012.
